An older adult describes a central blur that came on over days to a couple of weeks, with straight lines appearing bent or wavy. Reading vision has dropped noticeably in the affected eye. There is often known large drusen in one or both eyes.
- Examination
- Reduced central acuity with metamorphopsia on Amsler testing. Macular thickening, sometimes with subretinal haemorrhage or exudate at the posterior pole.
